In December last year Pukehinau Kai Hub community garden was opened. Researchers Ed Randal and Lori Leigh, as part of the Public Housing and Urban Regeneration: maximising wellbeing research programme, are investigating the association between the community garden and various measures of wellbeing for tenants and the surrounding community. The article below recently appeared in Te Toi Mahana’s Tenant Newsletter and outlines the opening with mana whenua Taranaki Whānui where the space was gifted the name Te Ngaehe o Rau Hīnau.
