Wellbeing of Social Housing Tenants

A survey has been designed and administered to adult tenants at the seven sites, focusing on tenant wellbeing and factors which contribute to their wellbeing. Questions include demographic information, specific wellbeing measures and questions designed to elicit key factors relating to each of the programme’s strands that may affect people's wellbeing. The survey information will be analysed using the three wellbeing frameworks described in the Encompassing Wellbeing Framework project.

The analysis will be compared to Stats NZ General Social Survey data that cover many of the same questions to check how responses to the tenant survey compare with the broader population, both people living in public housing and people in other housing tenures.

We are planning a follow-up wellbeing survey in 2024, with housing tenants who responded to our first survey and agreed to be recontacted at a later stage.
